LEGISLATIVE UPDATES

CALIFORNIA UPDATE:

  • OPEN BORDER ADVOCATE:  Scott Peters CA-50, Incumbent running against Bono loves open borders. On X, “Our Congressional Delegation secured $39 million to aid local nonprofits in providing humanitarian aid at the border. San Diego will always welcome asylum seekers and refugees…” (Emphasis is mine).

  • LEGAL DEFENSE FOR ILLEGAL ALIENS:  San Diego County is allocating $5 million of taxpayer funds to cover the legal defense costs of illegal aliens facing deportation. Jim Desmond, County Supervisor, correctly states, This is not a right. You can sign a petition in opposition at www.supervisorjimdesmond.com/legaldefense

  • CALIFORNIA’S 1,000 NEW COMMUNITY SCHOOLS. Newsom and Superintendent Thurmond Announce 1,000 New Community Schools and approved $1.3 Billion in grants. Newsom said, “California is transforming education to make schools a place where every family and student can succeed. Today we are expanding community schools across the state, offering everything from free meals twice a day, to mental health counseling, to before, after, and summer school programs to thousands more students.”  Community schools’ mission is to historically transform public schools. “The ten-year $4.1 billion California Community Schools Partnership Program (CCSPP) is the nation’s largest investment in dismantling barriers to learning that contribute to inequitable student outcomes. Community schools’ partner with education, county, and nonprofit entities to provide integrated health, mental health, and social services alongside high-quality, supportive instruction with a strong focus on community, family and student engagement. The funding targets low-income, underserved communities and provides “wraparound services” with a “holistic approach to education.”  Perhaps this wraparound approach will help expedite the indoctrination process.

  • MENTALHEALTH.CA.GOV. A new California Website! Newsom touts this as a one-stop source for people in need of mental health support and includes information about the state’s ongoing behavioral health transformation. This is part of a series of initiatives to transform the mental health system and to combat homelessness. Newsom states that this is the role model for all other states to follow. Reminder:  It’s been 20 years since Gavin Newsom’s 10 Year Pledge to end homelessness in San Francisco….and it’s worse today than 20 years ago.

  • ADVERSE CHILDHOOD EXPERIENCES AWARENESS DAY. You may have missed this celebration on May 11. As part of the Children and Youth Behavioral Health Initiative, the California Surgeon General is this month launching and ACEs and Toxic Stress Healing-Centered Awareness Campaign to improve our understanding of ACEs and toxic stress and connect youth, young adults and those who support them with strategies that promote healing. This is a long way from parental advice from not that long ago – Shake it off! Or…sticks and stones will break your bones, but words will never hurt you. I had to look up ACEs. Adverse Childhood Experiences.

  • NEWSOM REVISES BUDGET:  On May 10, Newsom revised the budget as he is faced with massive deficits. There will be a mix of spending cuts, but core services to be largely untouched (including free health care for illegal alien invaders).  Legislators must pass a balanced budget by June 15 or forego pay. Some of the cuts he is proposing are absurd, particularly the “unspent” $500 Million for water storage. He proposes they’ll save money by not filling some of the state’s open positions. He will also save money by taking 4,600 prison beds out of commission (saves nearly $81 million/year). Guess if you keep letting the bad guys go, really don’t need those prison beds. Feel safer now? He stated that a large part of this deficit is related to “climate change,” because we had a lot of rain…. that we couldn’t store…. because we have no water storage.

  • NEWSOM REACHED OUT TO PUBLIC FOR SUGGESTION ON DESIGN OF NEW $1 COIN COMMEMORATING CALIFORNIA’S INNOVATIONS. Unsurprisingly, he received a lot of blowback – but some good ideas that highlighted conditions in Newsom’s California.  Ideas ranged from homeless encampments, a mask atop the Golden State Map in reference to the lockdowns, Batteries and Solar Panels, Illegal Aliens and Drugs.

  • CALIFORNIA PARENTS AND THE GENDER FIGHTS. Newsom and Bonta sued the Chino School District to ensure that parents aren’t informed of their child’s gender transition. On 5/2/24, we learned from Assemblyman Bill Essayli that CA Attorney General Bonta’s admission (in court) that the CA Dept of Education’s “guidance” to keep secrets from parents is unenforceable. Hopefully just the first win, with more to come. https://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2024/05/bontasaurus-blocks-parents.ph

LEGISLATIVE UPDATE:

  • AB2999 THE HEALTHY HOMEWORK ACT. This piece of legislation introduced in February has received national attention. This bill would ban teachers from being able to assign students an excessive amount of homework. The bill’s author feels that no more than 10 minutes of homework should be required for each grade. Is there NOTHING that legislators don’t want to control?

  • SB233 PRACTICE OF MEDICINE: ARIZONA PHYSICIANS: ABORTIONS AND ABORTION-RELATED CARE FOR ARIZONA PATIENTS. Newsom, CA Legislators and Women’s Caucus held a press conference (Primarily Political, to keep voters focused on abortion as the primary election issue in 2024). This bill would allow Arizona physicians to provide abortions on Arizona women in California. Since this announcement took place, Arizona has updated their law and removed the abortion ban. While the new Arizona law won’t allow abortions through the 9th month, there will no longer be an abortion ban. But rest assured, California will allow Arizona doctors to come to California to abort babies all the way through the 9th month. Nice to know that California has no problems which require our focus but can take the time to focus on resolving Arizona’s problems!

  • SB1441. EXAMINATION OF PETITIONS. TIME LIMITATIONS AND REIMBURSEMENT OF COSTS. This bill will severely restrict the ability for voters to initiate petitions onto the ballots (i.e., rescue California (recall Newsom); Protect Kids (anti-gender affirming care for kids; Taxpayer Protection Act (Taxpayers can decide increased taxes/fees). This bill would impose onerous restrictions on the electorate to challenge any of the Democrat Super-Majority’s bills, signed into law.

  • SB1174, NO VOTER ID. Written by state Senator Dave Min, an Irvine Democrat, is a response to a Huntington Beach ballot measure that could require voter ID at its municipal elections. Railing against that measure, Min said his bill would remove any ambiguity that a charter city could impose such a requirement. State law would be that NO VOTER ID is every required and would not allow any state jurisdictions to impose voter ID. You know, because there is never any voter fraud – and while the electorate is overwhelmingly in favor of voter ID, the politicians would have a more difficult time cheating to win. Obviously, they can’t win if we have free and fair elections, or this bill would not be necessary.

POLITICAL BITS & PIECES

  • UKRAINE APPROPRIATIONS BILL FUNDS OUR ILLEGAL ALIEN IMMIGRATION INVASION. Most of our Republican California Legislators voted in favor of this $94 Billion of taxpayer money we don’t have (and isn’t in the budget). They voted for $482 MILLION for Refugee and Entrance Assistance and another $3.5 Billion to facilitate immigration from the middle east (PAKISTAN) to the United States. The neighboring Muslim countries will not allow them to immigrate to their countries. All our California Legislators should have their feet held to the fire for this vote. A total of 112 House Republicans were in opposition, joined by only one California House Member, Obernolte. https://www.breitbart.com/immigration/2024/04/25/bidens-deputies-to-import-more-muslim-migrants/

  • YIMBY Democrats of San Diego County. The deadline to apply was April 12 if you wanted to work with Team Rep Scott Peters! He stated that these young people will “learn organizing tactics & the history of political change. “Gain hands-on experience working on a congressional campaign.”  He also states that if they are passionate about political leadership and protecting democracy, that this is a great opportunity. SO, I looked up YIMBY meaning…. this means YES IN MY BACKYARD:  A pro-infrastructure development movement mostly focusing on public housing policy (opposing urban development). So…. socialism – and that is Scott Peters.
